Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can succeed. We believe that all pupils—regardless of their needs, background, or ability—deserve access to high‑quality teaching, personalised support, and opportunities to thrive.

Our aim is to ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are identified early, supported effectively, and able to make strong progress throughout their time with us.

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is: Mrs Hannah Mooring  office@evertonheath.org.uk

Mrs Mooring oversees SEND provision across the school and works closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure that every child receives the support they need.

We are dedicated to:

  • Providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils
  • Ensuring early identification of SEND needs
  • Offering tailored support and interventions
  • Working in partnership with parents and carers
  • Monitoring progress carefully and adapting support where needed
  • Ensuring pupils feel valued, confident, and supported

Every child is unique, and we take pride in offering provision that reflects individual strengths and challenges.

The SEND Code of Practice (2015) sets out how schools must identify, assess, and support children with SEND. It introduced several key expectations, including:

  • A graduated approach to identifying and supporting needs
  • High‑quality teaching as the foundation for all SEND support
  • Regular monitoring and review of pupil progress
  • Clear communication with parents and carers
  • Annual reporting on how the school identifies and supports pupils with SEND

At Everton Heath Primary School, we follow the Code of Practice closely and ensure that our provision reflects national guidance and best practice.

Support may include:

  • Differentiated classroom teaching
  • Targeted small‑group or 1:1 interventions
  • Support from specialist staff
  • Adapted resources or equipment
  • Pastoral and emotional support
  • Collaboration with external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists)

We work closely with families to ensure that support is appropriate, effective, and regularly reviewed.

We believe that strong partnerships with families are essential. Parents and carers are involved at every stage of the SEND process, including:

  • Initial discussions about concerns
  • Planning support and interventions
  • Reviewing progress
  • Agreeing next steps

Your insights and knowledge of your child are invaluable, and we welcome open communication.
